ABOUT NIGEL CARTER

A sailor for most of his life, Nigel started his Shipwrights apprenticeship in 1980 when he was 16 at Cockatoo Island boatyard in Sydney Harbour.

After he became a tradie, he found himself in Brookvale building skiffs and other high-tech dinghies.

After years of several boat building jobs and repair work, Nigel moved to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

After five years with Kevlacat, then a very special two years building custom 65ft yachts, he learned the value and importance of a good marine surveyor.

Nigel is now able to check with an educated eye and give other valuable advice if needed.

He has been fortunate enough in his boatbuilding career to do so many different things. From boat building, timber, glass and composite, to interior fit outs with electronics, plumbing and propulsion systems.

Nigel still fishes, sails and surfs, and has done several offshore races including the Brisbane to Gladstone and Brisbane to Keppel, plus delivering yachts up and down the east coast.
